How To Properly...

Wash Hair

The following is a set of instructions describing the necessary steps to properly wash hair. These steps can be applied to hair of all types, even animal hair. Hair washing is a task that should be completed frequently or as often as needed to keep hair clean. To wash hair you should first gather the needed supplies. After you have the necessary supplies you can then wet hair, apply shampoo, lather, rinse and repeat (but only if necessary)!

The first step in washing hair is to gather all required materials. To wash hair you will need a tub or basin to put the hair in, a source of running water such as a faucet, and shampoo. You may substitute a bucket of water for the running water if no running water is available. Also, you should be sure to choose the correct shampoo for your hair type. Shampoo is available at virtually any Wal-Mart, grocery store, dollar store or convenience store. If you have money to burn, you may also get shampoo from a salon or specialty store that sells salon products. Once you have gathered the needed materials you may continue to the next step.

The next step in hair washing should be to wet your hair. You should use your source of running water, or your bucket of water, to thoroughly saturate the hair with water. You should do this over your tub or basin. After you are finished, your hair should be soaked with water, root to tip. When you have accomplished this step, you can move directly to step three.

Step three of hair washing is to apply the shampoo. To do this you must first dispense a dollop of shampoo into the palm of your hand, and then rub both hands together so that there is an even amount of shampoo in each hand. Then you simply rub the shampoo into your wet hair until you have created lather. If you want to get fancy, you can massage your scalp as well. To get your hair clean, it is recommended to rub the soap into the hair for approximately one to three minutes. When you feel that you have lathered perfectly you may proceed to the final step.

The final step in washing your hair is to rinse all of the shampoo from your hair. To accomplish this you must use your running water, or another bucket of water, to douse the hair until all of the soap is gone. As in step two, you must do this step over the tub or basin. Once you have finished rinsing out the shampoo you may either let your hair air dry or use a blow dryer to finish drying your hair. If your hair still looks dirty you may repeat all steps until you feel your hair is clean. Follow the process by styling your hair as desired.

You now know that in order to properly wash hair you must wet the hair, apply shampoo, lather rinse and repeat (but only if necessary)! You will now be able to wash as much hair as you like.
